Winter Daily Practices
Below are a few simple seasonal practices you can incorporate into your daily routine this winter to help you feel a little more balanced as you move with the natural rhythms of nature.
It’s natural to want to hibernate in winter but try to rise and shine by 7 am
Brush your teeth and scrape your tongue.
Oil pulling is great for not only strengthening the gums and whitening teeth but also clearing plaque and toxins from the body that can accumulate during a particularly congestive time of year.
Clear your nose with a Neti Pot of salt and lukewarm water. Then add a few drops of nose oil to the nasal passages to moisturize, clear, and protect the nasal passages this time of year.
Drink warm lemon water to activate the digestive system—I also add 1/2 a lemon to 16oz of warm filtered spring mountain valley water, electrolytes, and a pinch of salt.
Warm your favorite oil for an all-over massage from head to toe, if you have time don’t forget your hair and scalp. Follow with a warm shower.
Enliven the body and mind with some vigorous, warming exercise or yoga. Head to The Breathing Room for one of our new near-infrared heated classes!
And don’t forget that winter’s gift is stillness and introspection so find pockets in your day for reflection or opportunities to turn inward through meditation or journaling practices.
Rest and hibernate. Your body may tolerate a little more nighttime sleep so plan for retiring around 10 p.m.
